"Same Same in Carlsbad does great Thai food, but North County locals love it for the good, inoffensively priced cocktails (like the tequila-based 40 Thieves, tinged with sesame oil), craft beers and natural wine. Inside, it feels like a storage unit sale gone right, with walls of dried wildflower bouquets next to portraits that could have been taken 100 years ago, and painted skateboards. When the kitchen closes, a bouncer replaces the bowls of khao soi and plates of chicken wings and the place ratchets up to a DJ’ed dance party.
