"Having lunch at Maru feels like eating sushi in a cafeteria. That is, if that cafeteria were adjacent to a Japanese garden and served rolls filled with gorgeous, deep-red tuna and topped with large strands of crunchy onions. It’s quiet and full of solo diners, no matter what time of day. And you could happily be one of those people, or bring someone who appreciates Japanese pickles and seaweed salad in a cucumber wrapper. The roll combinations are a breath of fresh air, since they aren’t super common, like asparagus and avocado topped with seaweed salad, or fried shrimp with spicy crab blanketed by chili sauce-marinated tuna.
