"Bar Tartare has the romantic glow and gravitational pull of a European wine bar, complete with an overflow of people on the cobblestone street patio, knowledgeable servers, and a cooler well-stocked with natural wine. Who’s cooking what in the kitchen changes weekly, but a tight menu means that, with the right company, you can knock it all off in a night or two and in time for the remix. On any given week you could have mussels verde with chorizo in beer broth, or maple blossom and squash fritti, or even an “anything goes italian burger" with a beef and egg yolk filled raviolo patty. Besides Tartare’s shapeshifting menu, its rotating selection of coveted BC wines from the likes of Ursa Major, Poppyshake, and A Sunday in August will keep drawing you back in.
