Located on the edge of New South Wales’ Royal National Park only a few dozen miles from Sydney, this spot is transformed in the series into the jungles of Burma, with its forest and proximity to a railway making it an obvious choice for the director, who reportedly decided on it immediately upon visiting. Filming there involved outdoor challenges like leeches and extreme weather, but the cast and crew showed a level of commitment that made the brutal POW camp setting feel authentic. - Phil de Semlyen
