"A roughly 50 m² building created as a proof-of-concept for 3D-printed construction, notable for being the first printed concrete structure in Europe to meet EU building regulations and for housing rentable workspaces. The designer reduced the carbon footprint by substituting large portions of concrete with donated gypsum, crushed tiles and fly ash, saving about 2.5 tonnes of concrete in the process, and emphasises minimal waste by printing only what is necessary. Conceived as an initial blueprint for future, more sustainable and creatively shaped urban buildings, the project aims to show that green construction can be both economically viable and architecturally ambitious." - Alexandra Pereira
