"The Ivey’s Hotel stands in Uptown Charlotte on the site of the historic department store that gave it its name; though it’s rooted in local history, this is no retro affair, but a thoroughly modern luxury boutique hotel, and one of the top lodgings in town. With just 47 rooms and suites it feels rather more intimate than you’d expect from a former department store, and the accommodations themselves are swanky and more than a little bit residential in aspect.
