"Though its setting, just off Scottsdale’s busy main drag, is unmistakably a desert one, the Scott Resort & Spa offers a surprisingly tropical escape. Inspired by Havana as experienced by Ernest Hemingway, the hotel puts a retro spin on all things Cuban. Here, right in the middle of the desert, guests can sip craft cocktails out of pineapples, and order <em>ropa vieja</em> at the hotel’s Cuban-American restaurant. Rooms are decorated with Art Deco and mid-century elements like walnut furniture, brass fixtures, crystal whiskey glasses, and Raffia chandeliers.
