"Introduce us to this place. This landmark five-star hotel has been earning and keeping its reputation as one of Lisbon’s poshest Chiado addresses since 1933. The gold-and-turquoise lobby makes quite the first impression, and the rest of the gorgeous twinkling property is just as impressive. Sounds pretty fabulous. What kinds of guests does it draw? This hotel is a magnet for celebrities, royalty, and politicians, making it worth the trip for the people-watching and eavesdropping alone. Indeed! How's the service? Were they helpful with check-in?It's some of the most finely attuned hospitality in Portugal; quality is consistent across the board, whether you’re saying hi to the housekeeper or seeking recommendations from the concierge. One note: The sprawling property does take a day or two to find your way around. Thanks for the heads-up. Now, onto the good stuff: Tell us about the digs.Elegant rooms are stamped with a soothing palette of blue, white, brown, and soft lighting; there are custom linens, oversize bathrooms with soaking tubs, and desks. As you might imagine, the nicer the room, the bigger the space and the better the perks. How about the little things, like the mini bar, or the shower goodies? Anything that made your stay more comfortable?Rooms are equipped with everything you need for an easy stay: custom toiletries, bathrobes and slippers, an executive desk, Nespresso machine, a pillow menu, and an impressive minibar. Excellent. How about the room service and the dining options in general?Cervejaria Liberdade sources its seafood from across the Portuguese coastline, serving memorable food in a classic, dark-wood room illuminated by chandeliers. Opt for the fresh seafood bar or order entrees like tiger prawns and rice. Got it. Any other services or features you want to shout out? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.Perched high above the fray, Sky Bar is easily Lisbon’s most high-end rooftop bars, serving up craft cocktails, live music, and views of Lisbon’s terracotta roof. When you need pampering, head to the Anantara Spa. Will do. Bottom line: Why book a room here?Stay here for an upscale getaway with great views." - Jenna Scatena
