"Stepping inside, I find Skye’s oldest pub a cozy, eclectically decorated spot where Charlie Haddock, the cook-owner who took over six years ago, has built a menu rooted in family memories and a ‘less is more’ approach. A slight breeze from the pen windows and picturesque sea views set the scene as I begin with the recommended langoustines and mussels bathed in a light cider‑tarragon sauce; local herbs and sea vegetables like sea aster and wood sorrel appear on the plates. I then devour one of the largest, tastiest lobsters I’ve eaten, perfectly and simply cooked, and watch across the road toward Loch Bay at the very boat that caught my shellfish just hours earlier — as fresh as seafood gets." - Carinne Geil Botta
