"Not far from the bustling hub of amusement parks and water parks that make up the Wisconsin Dells stands the granddaddy of the state’s supper clubs, Ishnala. Giant pine trees grow through the roof and customers settle into rustic wooden chairs to order up steaks, seafood, or the house specialty, roast Wisconsin duck. The restaurant–where the bar is shaped like a huge arrowhead and floor is paved with 76 tons of local flagstone—reported that it sold 93,478 old fashioned cocktails in 2021. From the dining room, guests can take in stunning views of Mirror Lake, where canoes glide quietly. Fair warning: Reservations are not accepted, and waits often stretch to more than two hours; Ishala is open seasonally from April through October."
