"How did it strike you on arrival?There's no mistaking you're in a converted, historic building: long before the Flemish gabled structure was Lille's first five-star hotel, it was a 15th century hospice. There's a massive stained glass window on the façade, an old hospice room, still intact, and a 17th century chapel. All of this sits alongside modern art, vast courtyards, a glass canopy, and a modern restaurant. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.Rooms are a mix of modern and a bit old fashioned: exposed wood beams, wood panels lining the walls around the bed, some with tiled floors. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.There's fine dining in the red vaulted-ceiling restaurant, and it's considered some of the city's finest. Also, there's a small spa with pool and sauna. What was most memorable about your stay?It's set away about 10 minutes by foot from La Grande Place in the city's center, but is a Lille institution with tremendous history.
