"I'm noting that Simone’s Market is throwing a full first-birthday week of pop-ups and parties: on Monday (Jan. 22) Chef Sue Zemanick pops up from 5–7 p.m. with soups sold by the pint or quart—tomato basil with Benton’s bacon, goat cheese, and ciabatta croutons; Hungarian cauliflower with paprika, dumplings, and crème fraîche; French onion with gruyère crostini; and coconut and red curry with winter squash, spicy greens, and garlicky cashews; on Tuesday (Jan. 23) the celebration continues with a “beers and brats” tasting of local brews (5–7 p.m.); on Saturday (Jan. 27) the market hosts Hawk’s Boil Up from 2–5 p.m. (three pounds of crawfish with corn, potatoes, and sauce for $22); and the week concludes Sunday (Jan. 28) with a whole hog roast and birthday cake from 3–5 p.m." - Stephanie Carter
