"Gordon Ramsay, a celebrity chef, restaurateur, and television personality known for being terrifying on Hell’s Kitchen and oddly nurturing on Masterchef Junior, is making his first entry into the Boston restaurant scene with Ramsay’s Kitchen, a hotel restaurant set to open late 2021 at the Mandarin Oriental in Back Bay (the hotel previously housed Daniel Boulud’s Bar Boulud Boston, which closed in 2020). The space will include a raw bar, a bar and lounge, two private dining areas, a seasonal patio and a main dining room, and will serve Ramsay’s favorite dishes — yes, including beef Wellington and a lobster and clam bouillabaisse — with all-day dining service. The design is meant to evoke a Boston feel, from a back bar nod to the Zakim bridge to blue marble representing Boston Harbor’s waters. Part of the Gordon Ramsay North America group (about 10 restaurants across Vegas, Atlantic City and beyond), this is the first Ramsay’s Kitchen concept and it plans to hire over 160 employees, which the announcement notes may be difficult given local staffing shortages and broader pandemic pressures affecting small, local restaurants; updates will be shared on Instagram as the opening approaches." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal
