"Owned by Troy Dion, this North Charleston steakhouse—serving the community since 1961—decided to reopen dining rooms as South Carolina restrictions eased. Dion, who told Eater Carolinas he felt “damned if you do, and damned if you don’t,” cited encouraging early data from neighboring Georgia and a desire to serve loyal customers. The operation is running at roughly half capacity, after a deep clean and a reconfiguration of tables to ensure six to eight feet of separation. Staff are required to wear gloves and masks, to stay home if they feel unwell, and to sanitize every table, chair, booth, bathroom, and door between customers. A Facebook photo showed employees in “Straight Outta Quarantine” T-shirts (a riff on N.W.A.’s Straight Outta Compton), and the owner says the initial response from regulars and people eager to get out has been overwhelmingly positive." - Erin Perkins
