"In the East Mission Valley neighborhood of Del Cerro, the Cohn Restaurant Group will open Del’s Hideout, a 5,400-square-foot, family-friendly neighborhood eatery created by co-owners David and Lesley Cohn. The restaurant pairs Texas-style barbecue and casual fare with a high-tech service model: after placing an initial order at a fast-casual counter, diners can use a Kallpod three-button GPS “butler bell” system—adopted by brands like Chick-fil-A and Marriott—that pings servers wearing smartwatches so additional food and drinks are delivered directly to the table. Executive chef Tim Eylens (who also runs the Coaster Saloon) will feature Texas-style barbecue, rotisserie chicken, salads, grain bowls, and burgers, and guests can fill complimentary cones at a self-serve ice cream station. Designed by Philippe Beltran, the space will offer 36 beer taps, draft cocktails and a full bar, a patio, retro arcade games, 16 flat-screen TVs with communal seating, and a kids’ activity area fashioned from a repurposed shipping container." - Candice Woo
