"Co-owned by Todd Minor and operating as a takeout spot in Kent, Washington, this restaurant serves fried chicken and Southern staples and saw a dramatic increase in customers in early June 2020 after community interest in supporting Black-owned eateries rose. Despite operating during stay-at-home orders, the restaurant served roughly 35,000 customers in its first full year, and the owners believe many of those new patrons have become long-term customers rather than one-time, opportunistic supporters. The team views the surge as an invitation to broaden their customer base but also highlights ongoing needs for institutional support, mentorship, and access to networks to sustain and grow the business." - Brittany Hutson
