"Don Ahern, the owner of construction-rental company Ahern Rentals, purchased Lucky Dragon, the foreclosed hotel and casino on Sahara Avenue near Las Vegas Boulevard, for $36 million in April 2019. After spending about $10 million to renovate the resort, he opened Ahern Hotel & Convention Center, mainly to take advantage of meetings and conventions with no gaming. And while the hotel still plans a grand opening this summer, now it’s focusing on providing meals for pickup in a neighborhood with few remaining takeout options." - Susan Stapleton
