"I noted that the much-beloved northeastern convenience store Wawa opened its first three Miami outposts today as part of a 120-store expansion in Florida. I mention that it offers $1 coffee no matter the size or flavor (there are more than 100 flavors), brand-owned snacks like soft pretzels, cannoli dip and chips, and Buffalo chicken bites; touch-screen ordering for items such as subs, wraps, and salads; and relatively clean — by gas-station standards — bathrooms. The chain has a cult-like following in Pennsylvania (so popular that when Pope Francis visited Philadelphia in 2015 the mayor offered to buy him a Wawa hoagie), and company reps say Wawa plans to make Miami home to about 50 stores over the next 5–10 years while continuing to open roughly 30–35 stores per year across Florida." - Olee Fowler
