"A late-October incident at the Naperville location sparked widespread attention after a social-media post went viral: staff asked a large party of African-American and mixed-race diners to move because two already-seated white customers reportedly did not want to sit near them. A police report obtained by local media says one of those white customers had a swastika tattoo, had been heard making racist comments in the past, and would sometimes return food served by non-white employees; he had been a regular for two to three years who visited to watch hockey and college football. Corporate subsequently fired two employees involved in the exchange and banned the tattooed customer. Follow-up visits showed sparse lunchtime business, two police officers on site to keep the peace, and TVs showing African-American athletes as the only people with dark skin visible inside; the episode also generated hundreds of threatening phone calls. The police report (with names redacted) noted most of the dining room was empty when the group was asked to move and that an employee described the situation as a miscommunication." - Ashok Selvam
