"I'm expecting a brash, speakeasy-style brunch spot opening this July on Fifth Avenue in Hillcrest in one of The Guild Theatre building spaces: Breakfast Bitch will serve a daytime menu built around croissants — whether stuffed with a veggie scramble or hash browns and eggs, or topped with a lobster Benedict — and may also feature griddle-your-own pancakes. Boozy brunch drinks will include beer, wine, mimosas, and Bloody Marys, and diners should be forewarned they'll be greeted with the phrase “Hi, bitch” (owner Tracii Hutsona says the intent will be playful and positive). The Los Angeles–based Hutsona plans to launch outposts in West Hollywood and Las Vegas after the Hillcrest opening. Hours are slated to run 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with the restaurant open all day Sunday with DJs spinning from the morning onward, and late-night hours Friday and Saturday from midnight to 4 a.m., with non-alcoholic CBD spritzers available into the wee hours." - Candice Woo
