"Known for its meat-forward sandwiches, I learned Sammich began in Ashland, Oregon, when owner Melissa McMillan launched the concept and later expanded to Portland and Lebanon; her mini-empire is built on meat, especially McMillan’s pastrami, which Eater Portland described as "beautifully tender, rich, and aromatic." I note she also brought Chicago’s trademark Italian beef to the Northwest and reportedly makes a mean hamburger. Sammich’s food truck is opening its first permanent location outside Oregon at Project 9 Brewing, with McMillan planning to open on Thursday, May 4 pending a health inspection after a slow permitting process, and the truck has been sitting in the parking lot for weeks, teasing Seattle’s sandwich obsessives. McMillan has kept a blunt, enthusiastic attitude about the move on Instagram, writing, "Can’t wait to sell some fucking Beef’s and watch the @chicagobearskick some @seahawksass this year!!!" - Harry Cheadle
