"After being forced to shutter temporarily earlier this summer, I watched The Fat Cat reopen last night in a newer, much more spacious Hancock Street location. Now at 1495 Hancock St., the restaurant — under the stewardship of chef Bobby Sisson, who has worked at Island Creek Oyster Bar, Row 34, and Sportello — can accommodate about 150 diners, more than double its previous capacity; the space formerly housed the Iron Furnace, the Stadium, and Alba Restaurant (which now operates across the street at 1486 Hancock St.). Owner Neil Kiley quipped, “The Fat Cat is getting fatter.” Much of the menu remains comfort-food focused, but Sisson has added fine-dining–influenced dishes such as wild boar ragu with polenta, pork belly with cherry gastrique and frisée, and cold-smoked trout pâté. The move was prompted by “growing building concerns” the restaurant cited on Facebook after the Chestnut Street building was slated for demolition to make way for new development." - Terrence Doyle
