"After moving to Sebastopol in early 2022, D.C. Looney and Lisa Costa opened a second Punchdown in May at the Barlow market district; the natural wine bar and bottle shop has a much larger retail selection than their Oakland original and a welcoming, community-focused vibe. I found the wine list emphasizes natural wines from the old world (France, Italy, Spain) alongside local producers such as Caleb Leisure, Emme Wines, and Martha Stoumen (the latter two are made in the same Barlow complex), and the bar offers curated flights including an Orange Adventure flight of orange wines and a glou‑glou flight of drinkable reds. The food program is limited to small bites: house-made dips, spreads, and chicken liver mousse produced by their Oakland kitchen, plus onsite cheese and charcuterie boards made by Woodlands Charcuterie and other tapas; because the shop shares space with other Barlow eateries it welcomes outside food and plans regular pop-ups (for example, a June 4 event with Sonoma Mountain Breads). The couple also hosts weekly Industry Mondays with waived corkage for hospitality workers, framing natural wine as a way to slow down, connect, and build community. The Punchdown in Sebastopol is open noon–8 p.m. Monday–Thursday, 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Friday–Saturday, and 11 a.m.–8 p.m. Sunday." - Dianne de Guzman
