"Way up north in Cave Creek, Cody Elgin has emerged as a great barbecue talent. He opened Cryin’ Coyote in 2023, replacing a local legend on the main strip. His top meats are ribs, hauntingly spiced andouille sausage, and thick-cut fatty brisket (you have to ask for fatty). Elgin smokes half and whole chickens. Sometimes on Saturdays, he fries and smokes chicken wings. Popular sides include elote, Alabama white slaw, and a chile-charged cornbread.
