"I see the nearly 10,000-square-foot space on Garnet Avenue as an all-in-one venue for dining, drinking, and entertainment that replaces longtime nightclub Johnny V’s. Break Point, owned and rebooted by Mike Lee and his wife Amy (Lee has run the club since the late ’80s), pairs a family-friendly eatery and four full-length bowling lanes with a late-night bar and dance club and was designed by Davis Ink (The Grass Skirt, Parq, Sidebar). Executive chef Bobby Borja (Prepkitchen Little Italy) is behind a coastal Mexican- and Asian-influenced menu featuring Baja fish tacos and togarashi-seared ahi sandwiches, with more dishes arriving in the coming weeks, and the full-service bar pours 16 taps of mostly local beer while a cocktail list continues to develop. The dining room’s dramatic hexagonal-shaped booths adjoin the lanes, a rear seating area converts into a dance floor with DJs most evenings, and the venue plans to offer bottle service and private-party packages; it’s currently open daily at 11 a.m. with plans to expand to weekday breakfast and weekend brunch." - Candice Woo
