"Athens import Maepole, a 'healthy', quick-serve cross between the Southern meat and three and a build-your-own bowl restaurant, opens in Summerhill later this year. Maepole, co-owned by chef Peter Dale (the National, Condor Chocolates, and Seabear Oyster Bar), takes up residence in what is currently a gravel parking lot across from Wood’s Chapel BBQ, part of a new 11,000-square-foot phase set to begin construction soon along Georgia Avenue. As with the Athens restaurant, diners first choose a base like brown rice or super greens for their plate, then two sides such as mac and cheese, collards, or roast vegetables, and finally a meat or vegan protein and a sauce. The menu also offers fully-compiled 'chef’s selections' plates. All the meats at Maepole are apparently hormone- and antibiotic-free, and nothing on the menu contains high-fructose corn syrup.
