"The Girl & The Vine opened with limited hours in Takoma Park this week, bringing the family-friendly neighborhood a sleek new spot to sample sandwiches, cheese, and charcuterie boards to go with wines and cocktails. The new two-level cafe and retail store comes from Jocelyne DeHaas and her husband, David Fritzler. The alums of Ellē, Eater D.C.’s 2018 Restaurant of the Year, and Tryst Trading Co. have teamed up with chef Rob Theriot (formerly at the Coupe) at the 2,800-square-foot venue. Today marks the first day of regular hours. The morning-to-night operation is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and closes at 11 p.m. on weekends. It’s closed on Tuesdays. The upstairs cafe and bar serves sandwiches such as a chicken schnitzel BLT, a turkey “Chip-wich” with avocado, and a veggie Green Surfer on multigrain ($10-$11). The wine and retail area is housed on the first floor. There’s seating for 45, along with 12 on the patio." - Tierney Plumb
