"I learned that Porto’s Peri Peri, a popular Chicago spot dedicated to Portuguese flame-grilled chicken, will debut soon in Sugar Land at 2625 Town Center Boulevard and will be the brand’s first Houston-area outpost. The chain operates seven locations in Chicago and recently expanded into Texas with a North Dallas location that’s already seeing lines out the door after debuting its marinated, vegetarian-fed chicken six weeks ago, according to founder Syed Pasha. The menu centers on plates of flame-grilled yardbird and also includes wraps and sandwiches filled with chicken or vegetarian options like falafel, peri-spiked cheeses, or veggie patties, plus sides such as cole slaw, corn on the cob, hummus, mixed olives, and cassava fries with peri salt. Pasha says he hopes to open the Sugar Land location by mid-December (definitely before the holidays) and plans additional openings across Dallas and Houston." - Alaena Hostetter
