Austin Distillery Goodnight Loving Vodka Is Opening Boozy Tasting Room | Eater Austin

"A brand-new Austin vodka distillery is opening a public tasting room at 12440 Trail Driver in far west Austin, slated to debut in early 2019. The clear spirit is distilled with Texas spring water and is produced by Gary Crowell (founder of Deep Eddy Vodka and co-founder of Nine Banded Whiskey) alongside business partner Tim Osburn. The tasting room’s cocktail menu will be overseen by bartender Nicky Benitez, currently beverage manager for tiki bar Pool Burger and a contributor to Nine Banded Whiskey cocktails. The entrance is designed as a sliding bookcase leading into a 3,000-square-foot interior outfitted with tiles, Eames Shell bar stools, a turntable and speakers, and midcentury-style and custom pieces from Garza Marfa; outside there will be an outdoor vodka garden. The space, designed by McCray & Co., will offer weekend public tours, cocktail classes for varying skill levels, and a gift shop selling the vodka along with vintage glassware, barware, and apparel (scarves, aprons, T-shirts). The vodka is already available retail around Austin and on menus at spots such as The Clay Pit and Last Straw, and a portion of selected sales donations (10%) will go to ShelterBox USA.
