"Opened in early December, the 3,000-square-foot Beachwood Pizza & Beer on Warner Avenue in Huntington Beach sits just inland from Bolsa Chica State Beach. I found the menu focused on 16-inch sourdough pies alongside starters, salads, and sandwiches served daytime into the evening; pizzas from chef Waldo Stout range from simple pepperoni to ricotta-and-bacon, a spicy salsa verde with sausage and Calabrian chiles, and build-your-own combinations starting at $24. Stout is a longtime pizza maker, chef, and baker who has cooked across greater Los Angeles at places such as Bestia, Bavel, Roberta’s, Gjusta, and Long Beach’s Little Coyote. On the beer side I noticed the usual run of Beachwood craft brews coming from the nearby Huntington Beach production facility as well as one-off Belgian-style sours from the Blendery in Long Beach, with 24 taps in all plus wines by the glass and bottle. The restaurant won’t brew on-site, but the connection to Beachwood Brewing’s past remains on tap, and hours run lunch through dinner Thursday–Sunday with evening-only seating on Mondays and Wednesdays." - Farley Elliott
