"Located on the ground floor of Amazon HQ2’s new campus at 1450 S. Eads Street in Arlington, this large love letter to Peru debuted with lunch in mid-October and has since added dinner service; starting Monday, October 23 the extended hours are 11 a.m.–8 p.m. Mon–Wed, until 9 p.m. Thu–Fri, 10 a.m.–9 p.m. Sat, and 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Sun, with online ordering for pickup available. Founded by brothers Giuseppe and Mario Lanzone as a food truck in 2012, Peruvian Brothers specializes in sizable sandwiches (guests can add prized Peruvian avocado to fillings like chorizo, braised beef, and salted pork tenderloin), baked empanadas, ceviche, rotisserie chicken sold by the half/quarter/whole, and sides such as yuca fries, quinoa salad, and fried plantains; a section of saltados offers proteins like filet, shrimp, chicken, and vegetables served with rice (or noodles) and fries, and desserts include flan and picarones. The indoor-outdoor setup expands the space for live music, eye-popping murals (including a sprawling homage to the Inca sun by Jeff Huntington), and a full bar pouring Peruvian beers, wines, and cocktails — notably pisco sour slushies, a fan favorite invented at their inaugural brick-and-mortar spot in Union Market’s La Cosecha — plus freshly made chica morada on tap. Happy hour (4–6 p.m.) just launched with calamari and wings added to the menu and $1-off beers and Chilcano cocktails; the operation is part of a decade-long portfolio that now includes multiple trucks, stadium and theater concessions, restaurants, and catering work that has reached institutions like the White House, State Department, Capitol Hill, and the Pentagon, and even features a hand-carved wooden model of the BAP Unión made by Mario Lanzone." - Tierney Plumb
