"After 13 years in Yountville, chef Richard Reddington’s eponymous restaurant will close after service on October 7. Opened as one of the town’s few upscale restaurants alongside the French Laundry, it offered an updated interpretation of wine country cuisine with influences from Asia, Europe, and Mexico in a relaxed yet elegant environment. Intentionally more casual than super fine dining, Redd emphasized a fun, local-friendly bar and was buoyed by cocktails and a deep wine list; over the years it became a hangout for locals and tourists with a cozy patio and a small but busy bar. Signature dishes included glazed pork belly with apple puree, burdock, and soy caramel; risotto with lobster, lemon confit, and white truffle oil; and the pork belly bao served at the bar, which became a classic. Facing the recent death of a business partner and the departure of key staff, Reddington views closing Redd as a positive step toward a new, slower-paced chapter split between Yountville and upstate New York." - Ellen Fort
