"Stepping into a corner diner shaded by trees, I found a sports-themed dining room lined with football helmets, jerseys, and other memorabilia; the decades-old spot was taken over by Ernesto and Laura Castro in March 2020. The staff know Juan Toscano-Anderson and routinely bring freshly squeezed juice and check if he needs more protein, and menu items are even named after local high school coaches. He has his own dish, the “Coach ‘Toscano’” — French toast with powdered sugar, cinnamon, two eggs, bacon, and sausage — and he usually starts with French toast (the seasonal pumpkin bread topped with caramelized bananas is a recommended special). We were then served an extra-large platter of chilaquiles made with freshly fried tortillas drenched in tangy tomatillo sauce, scrambled eggs, and crispy home fries; they were crunchy, not soggy, perfectly spiced, and, as Toscano-Anderson put it, “the best chilaquiles I’ve ever had.”" - Becky Duffett
