"Owner Martin Kirrane had planned to drive his employees to Disneyland on Wednesday, January 15, to celebrate a busy holiday season, but when multiple wildfires broke out amid high-speed winds throughout the Los Angeles area, Kirrane and the team canceled their plans and converted the Disney road trip into a donation commute—one loaded with bins of clothing and non-perishables. The shop’s drop-off donation bins are one way the Las Vegas culinary community is rallying to provide support for disaster relief as the Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire force residents to evacuate. The business will continue to collect donations of clothing, toiletries, children’s toys, and non-perishable food over the next two weeks or more; on Wednesday the staff will drive not to Disneyland but to three drop-off centers for displaced residents in need of material goods, and the shop will also donate 20 percent of proceeds to World Central Kitchen on Wednesday. “It started with two team members saying, ‘Hey if we have the stuff, we can drive it down,’” says Kirrane. “Other humans need help,” says Kirrane." - Janna Karel
