"Grand Rapids-based City Built Brewing Co. is launching Mi Gente to highlight the contributions of Latinx brewers; the beer will be unveiled at an October 27 release party with inaugural collaborator Batch Brewing Co. in Corktown, with festivities from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Batch’s new outdoor stage and live music by Gabriel Duran and Slippery People. Modeled similarly to the “Black is Beautiful” campaign, Mi Gente invites brewers nationwide to use its West Coast-style IPA recipe — brewed with Chinook, Cascade, Citra, and Mosaic hops — and its label, and to donate a portion of proceeds to causes addressing Latinx issues; City Built is donating part of its raised funds to the Somos Comunidad Fund of the Grand Rapids Community Foundation, and the beer will also be available October 28 at the Detroit Fall Beer Festival hosted by the Michigan Brewers Guild." - Serena Maria Daniels
