"A specialized cookie shop only a 300-foot walk from its sister cafe, Confections by Kirari opened on June 22 as a focused outpost devoted entirely to cookies, coffee, and cookie sundaes. Upon entry you immediately catch the scent of baked cookies and see a whimsical hand-painted wall mural; the shop takes a very different direction than Kirari West’s breads, muffins, scones, brownies, cakes, salads, and sandwiches. Front and center are eight thick (but not dense) cookies—classic chocolate chip, miso butterscotch, oatmeal rum raisin, matcha white chocolate, among others—and Saito also spent most of the year experimenting with cookie sundaes made with Fosselman’s ice cream. Customers can choose vanilla bean, dark chocolate, or sea salt caramel ice cream and a preferred cookie chunk, add sauces like chocolate, strawberry, banana orange compote, or butterscotch, and toppings such as roasted walnuts, chocolate chips, or butterscotch chips. The shop also offers drip coffee, cold brew, and tea, and operates daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m." - Mona Holmes
