"After months of waiting, Dallas–Fort Worth diners can now officially score one of the world’s fanciest hot pot experiences at the brand-new Haidilao Hot Pot, which quietly opened in Frisco. A local hot pot enthusiast, Ivy Chan, told me she drove to check on opening weekend, found long lines and was quoted an hour-and-a-half wait (the restaurant even set up tables and outdoor games in the parking lot to keep crowds occupied), and phone calls went unanswered that day before I confirmed the opening with a chain representative. The menu lets diners choose four broth sections — including spicy beef tallow, miso, mushroom, and Thai-style tom yum — and stock the pot with thinly sliced meats like organic chicken, Kurobuta pork shoulder, A5 wagyu ribeye steak, and baby squid, plus plenty of veggies, noodles, garnishes, side dishes, and desserts. Haidilao is currently open for dinner only, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and given DFW’s enthusiasm, lengthy waits are likely to continue." - Amy McCarthy
