"Almost a decade into its tenure on Alberta Street, Abyssinian Kitchen is still serving some of the best Eritrean and Ethiopian food in Portland. Start with a sambusa filled with beef or lentils and a warm tea. Omnivores should try the awaze tibs, which come with sauteed beef, onion, tomato, and peppers. Vegans and vegetarians have a bounty of options, including chickpeas simmered in a clay pot (shiro b’ tsahli) and stewed yellow split peas (aik alicha and gomen). Make sure to order some extra injera to enjoy with the richly simmered dishes." - Rebecca Roland, Brooke Jackson-Glidden, Nathan Williams
