"I'm noting that Mendocino Farms' Addison location at 5294 Belt Line Road in Prestonwood Place will open on Tuesday March 23; it's the chain's second North Texas restaurant, joining the year-old Downtown Dallas spot. Founded in 2005, Mendocino Farms is known for towering Cali-style sandwiches and veggie-packed salads — highlights include an avocado and quinoa “superfood” salad with black beans, jicama and grape tomatoes on chopped romaine and curly kale, a club sandwich with shaved turkey breast and bacon on seeded wheat, as well as Reubens, paninis, Impossible burgers, a vegan banh mi, and a “shawarma” wrap made with roasted mushrooms instead of meat. The Addison spot is part of a broader Texas expansion (three Houston locations already exist with a fourth opening later this year), and diners can order online through the Mendocino Farms website for pickup and delivery." - Brittanie Shey
