"After a complete retro-themed overhaul, I found the former Bowlmor AMF reemerged as Bowlero Bethesda at 5353 Westbard Avenue, featuring 34 lanes accented by black lights, lounge seating, and high-definition video walls that air live sports, music videos, and family films. The updated design leans into retro touches like Edison light fixtures, herringbone-patterned floors, and retro wall decor, while entertainment options include a new arcade and gaming section with Mario Kart, basketball, darts, and billiards. A new bar setup serves cocktails (including shareable 100-ounce drinks), wines, and beer at a counter lined with flat-screen TVs, and the binge-focused menu offers diet-busting items such as two-foot hot dogs, an “XXL” gigantic pretzel, a jumbo chocolate chip cookie, a 100-ounce mule, and a double-decker “monster” burger (1,360 calories), with lighter sandwiches, salads, and wraps available; for bigger events they break out five-pound “Behemoth” burgers and five-layer pizza cakes. The bowling alley opens Mon–Thu at 4 p.m., Fri at 2 p.m., and Sat–Sun at 11 a.m., and a grand opening party with Washington Redskins running back Chris Thompson was planned for Saturday, September 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m." - Tierney Plumb
