Joe Theismann’s Restaurant in Old Town Alexandria Reopens With a New Menu | Eater DC

"I visited the reliable Old Town sports bar founded by former Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann in 1975 after it reopened this week following major renovations; the 7,800-square-foot steakhouse at 1800 Diagonal Road rolled out a new menu that adds pan-seared salmon, beef short ribs, poke bowls, and a Southern fried chicken salad alongside mainstays like steaks and burgers. To keep football fans interested on weekends the first Bloody Mary is $9 and subsequent ones are $5, and brunch includes a hearty “Quarterback Scramble” that piles eggs, bacon, Italian sausage, and home fries onto one plate. Appetizers include “Reuben” fries and a Philly flatbread, there’s a new 26-ounce ribeye for two priced at $69, and the interior got a football-themed refresh with soft brown leather banquettes, turf-green walls, a collection of autographed jerseys and footballs, and a new island bar with 20 draft lines. Theismann’s stayed open during its months-long overhaul operating as a pop-up bar called JT, recently took on an equity partner in Alexandria Restaurant Partners (which also operates Vola’s Dockside Grill, Mia’s Italian Kitchen, and Riverside Taco Company), and conveniently reopened around the same time the King Street Metro stop restarted service; the reopening also coincides with Theismann’s 70th birthday." - Tierney Plumb
