"I've learned that Hawkers Asian Street Fare has locked in an East Nashville spot at 626A Main Street — the 5,000-square-foot former Family Wash space — and aims to open at the end of 2019. Independently owned and operated by four friends, Kaleb Harrell, Allen Lo, Wayne Yung, and Kin Ho, they built a menu from passed-down family recipes and hand-selected street food gathered during travels across Asia. The scratch-only kitchen focuses on small plates served as they're ready; the online menu from other locations features offerings such as Korean twice-fried wings, five-spice green beans, crispy golden wontons, noodle soups, salads, noodle and rice dishes ranging from Yangzhou chow faan to pad Thai and coconut curry laksa. Vegetarian, gluten-free, and pescatarian-friendly plates are plentiful, and the beverage program will include craft cocktails, local beer, wine, and sake. Hawkers first opened in Orlando in 2011 and has since expanded within Florida with plans for Charlotte, Atlanta, and Delray Beach, and the name pays homage to the street-food vendors encountered across Southeast Asia who hawk their small plates to passers-by." - Delia Jo Ramsey
