"I learned that a longstanding Sausalito Italian restaurant is getting a little screen time thanks to The Last Thing He Told Me: the book and show name Poggio as Bailey’s favorite, and Hannah attempts to recreate a “homemade multigrain linguini in a brown butter sauce” from her birthday meal there. Michael Mindel, one of the partners, says author Laura Dave took some creative liberties with the menu and that the show didn’t film inside the restaurant, but Jennifer Garner dined at Poggio several times while filming—Mindel estimates four or five visits—and enjoyed the schiacciatta (a wood-fired flatbread she tried to recreate at home), a sformatino, and a vegetarian bucatini made per her request; staff remembered her as “lovely and really nice,” and she even yelled from her car to a packed patio, “Goodbye Poggio, I love you!” Mindel notes the closest real menu item to the book’s pasta is the pasta with mullet bottarga and garlic, and chef Ben Balesteri is planning The Last Thing He Told Me specials to be added to the menu (watch the restaurant’s Instagram). Poggio is located at 777 Bridgeway in Sausalito and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week, with reservations available online." - Lauren Saria
