"Located in the Grand Army of the Republic building, the Republic and Parks & Rec restaurant duo has a long record of staff turnover; Matt Baldridge is the latest in a series of highly regarded chefs to helm the two restaurants, and management says he and his team will continue to work closely with Detroit-area growers and local farms to develop the best cuisine possible based on the season. The pair has cycled through notable chefs: Kate Williams helped open Republic in February 2015 but made a sudden exit a few months later and has since become chef and owner of Lady of the House and Candy Bar; she was succeeded by sous chef Sarah Welch, who shepherded Parks & Rec through its opening before being ousted in March 2017 and later opened the Eater Award–winning Marrow in West Village; Welch was replaced by sous chefs Matt Currie and Allie Lyttle, and Lyttle was fired last May." - Brenna Houck
