What Is the RESTAURANTS Act?

"A large, multi-location steakhouse chain was cited as an example of an established business that benefited from Paycheck Protection Program loans despite the program’s intent to aid small operators; critics argue such firms took advantage of relief while Black, minority, and women-owned restaurants had difficulty obtaining funds. The RESTAURANTS Act would explicitly exclude businesses like this by barring publicly traded companies and chains with 20 or more locations from receiving grants, and by prioritizing smaller restaurants and outreach to underrepresented owners in the initial application period." - Chris Crowley
