Sam’s Hideaway calls itself “the oldest southernmost tavern on the mainland USA, " and walking inside is a form of time travel. The bartenders are on a first-name basis with most of the room—and will be with you before you leave. It’s too easy to spend hours in here, striking up conversations with strangers, drinking bloody marys garnished with Slim Jims, and forgetting about the world outside.
