"Chic-A-Loes has sat in a worn plaza on East Point Street for decades. And for decades, people have streamed in and out of the small, mostly takeout spot for one main reason: their massive $9 fried chicken sandwich. The chicken breast is pounded flat until it’s as big as a steering wheel. So the crispy, seasoned chicken hangs well past the edges of a soft bun, practically daring you to take a full bite without using a fork. Everything else here is just-fine—fat chicken fingers, crispy wings, and a few fried seafood options round out the menu. But it all  works when you want food that’ll weigh down your takeout container without emptying your wallet. Food Rundown Chic-A-Loe Chicken Sandwich A flattened chicken breast roughly the size of a dinner plate is sandwiched between two soft buns. Crispy, well-seasoned, and $9—it might be lunch, but it’s probably also dinner. Jumbo Shrimp Frozen shrimp dropped into the fryer. Not bad, not great, but you get about 12 pieces for $13. Lemon Pepper Wings Big, crispy wings coated in citrusy-peppery seasoning. A solid fix when you want wings, but nothing to go out your way for.
