Elmyriachi - Review - Kirkwood - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Kirkwoord's Elmyriachi is a Tex-Mex restaurant from the same folks behind Elmyr. And while their slightly better-than-average tacos or burritos aren't worth going out of the way for, it’s a useful place to pass a lazy afternoon devouring a spicy $16 chimichanga the size of the state of Georgia. Since opening a decade ago, Elmyriachi a has claimed (and kept) the crown as the neighborhood's favorite patio hang for lunch and dinner. The shaded patio is really nothing special—worn-out lawn furniture, multi-colored umbrellas, and tables full of margaritas. But families and couples who live within shouting distance of the budget-friendly spot (most entrees clock in under $20) have made eating here their weekly ritual. Food Rundown Chimichanga This deep-fried chimichanga is sauced up with both red and green salsa that has a good enough kick to make your nose run. Then there’s about a gallon of thick queso on top of that. Not to mention the stuffing of corn, green chiles, and massive chunks of chicken that we wish would’ve come shredded. The flour tortilla holds all the ingredients you’d find in a Philly jawn—diced steak with a salty finish, grilled bell peppers and onions, and then a drizzle of chipotle mayo. And it really works. Elmyriachi plays these straight with shredded beef that’s been slow-roasting for a few hours, topped with a bit of chipotle mayo, onions, and cilantro.
