"In case it wasn’t obvious by the dozens of blue and white flags, the framed picture of Tikal, and the handwoven textile, El Meneo is a Guatemalan restaurant. And it’s doing a fantastic job bearing the weight of being the only Guatemalan restaurant inHollywood. They serve classics like pollo en pepián, chuchitos, and tostadas that all taste a bus ride away from Acatanango. For fans of breakfast for dinner, the desayuno chapín is available all day. During the week, the restaurant is relatively quiet, with regulars strolling in to get their fix of rich chicken stew and pupusas de loroco. On the weekends, though, the place stays open until 4am and transforms into a nightclub. If you catch them on Guatemala’s independence day (September 15), you can listen to marimba for hours and forget you’re in Broward." - Mariana Trabanino
