Pit Boss BBQ - Review - Hapeville - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Close your eyes and envision a BBQ joint. Chances are you're picturing something close to Pit Boss in Hapeville with its sturdy wooden chairs and tables made for eating tender pulled chicken sandwiches with tangy housemade sauce. This counter service BBQ spot doesn’t cut corners: no parboiled ribs or oven-roasted brisket here, only meats that have spent hours on the smoker. The Delta employees who swarm this place for lunch will tell you the same—few establishments do smoked meats as well as Pit Boss. Once a tiny spot where you'd smell like smoke after a visit, Pit Boss is now in a larger location across the street. Despite the move, the quality of their smoked ribs, wings, and pulled chicken remains top-notch. photo credit: Amy Sinclair Food Rundown Brisket By The Pound A lot of brisket is very fatty or cooked until it's too tough. But not at Pit Boss. You can tell this brisket is slow smoked for a really long time because it's so tender and flavorful. Pork Back Ribs With Bread These aren't parboiled ribs. The flavor is slow smoked into the meat, straight to the bone. Pit Boss Chopped BBQ Chicken Sandwich Plopped on a lightly toasted bun, this tender chicken still holds lots of smoky flavor even though it's tossed in their tangy-sweet signature BBQ sauce. Smoked Wings A favorite menu item, the wings highlight Pit Boss's masterful technique on the smoker. The taste is not overwhelming, and the wings remain juicy, which anyone who's ever thrown a batch of drums and flats on the charcoal grill knows isn't the easiest thing to do." - Jacinta Howard
